Appalachia Digital Accelerator
Mahoning County
Mahoning County County Commissioners envision a community where all residents have equitable access to high-speed internet and the necessary digital tools to thrive in a digital world. With support from the Accelerator, the county has developed a plan which aims to enhance broadband access and affordability by extending infrastructure, increasing digital literacy, and preparing for federal funding opportunities.

We looked for underserved townships and wanted to make sure connectivity and utilization of broadband was available. American Rescue Plan Act funds enabled us to do things for communities in outlying areas and townships that may not have been able to get large investments.
By collaborating with key partners and establishing a public private partnership with an existing internet service provider (ISP), the county seeks to build a more connected, equitable community, empowering residents with improved access to telehealth, education, and economic opportunities.
