Past Programs
Legacy initiatives that continue to shape the future of digital opportunity
Our work is rooted in the belief that communities should be empowered to advance digital opportunity on their own terms. We design programs that build local capacity, spark innovation, and create space for experimentation, knowing that meaningful change often begins with small, catalytic efforts.
This page highlights programs that have concluded but whose influence lives on — advancing our mission and contributing to a shared body of knowledge. These initiatives have served as testbeds for new ideas and scalable models with lasting impact. We remain committed to learning out loud, iterating openly, and working with communities, ISPs, funders, and investors to close the digital divide.

Indigenous Connectivity Institute
We’re proud to have incubated the Indigenous Connectivity Institute to expand support, knowledge, and resources for Indigenous communities working to build digital opportunity on their own terms. Today, ICI has grown into an independent initiative, carrying its mission forward from a new home.

Will for the Web
Through the largest-ever global survey on civil society and digital technology, thousands of organizations shared how digital systems are serving — or failing — their needs. The resulting State of Digital Inequity report and data dashboard surfaced key barriers and informed collaborative solutions that continue to shape the field.

Build Better Broadband
Our first broadband initiative, this program provided planning grants to six low-income and historically underserved communities to help design affordable, reliable, and community-driven networks. It laid the groundwork for future investments in locally led broadband solutions.
